DQ9 Encyclopedia

Shops

One shop per row, with its actual prices (as the game computes them: the item's base price × the shop's percentage, 500% at the Gortress and the Dourbridge trader). The “Open” column tells from which point of the story the merchant is there (read from the game's character placements). Cap'n Max Meddlin trades items for mini medals. For an item's cheapest shop, open its card.

How it works: Buying and selling prices

The essentials

An item almost always sells back for half price: the buying price is 2 × the selling price. The Gortress and the Dourbridge trader (post-game) charge five times as much.

Every item has a resale price. The base buying price is either written as is (4 items) or computed from the resale price:

  • 2 × resale (731 items); 2 × resale + 1 (chimaera wing, bandana…); 2 × resale − 1 (leather whip, leather hat); 10 × resale (starting gear, guest outfits).
  • In a shop: base price × the shop's percentage ÷ 100 (100% everywhere, 500% at the Gortress and the Dourbridge trader).
